I can't remember off the top of my head about special tools, but I always find that the bmws and German cars use odd sized tools..ie I'm 99% sure you'll need an 18mm socket somewhere, and at one point I only had one in my tool box so I've since bought a bunch. Nothing special though in any procedure. You will need to get bimmerlink for the parking brake service mode for the back. I didn't do it myself but I'm pretty sure you need it. I can, however, imagine you could take apart the parking brake much like a lot of Honda and volvo do... Still, easier if you already have the obdii reader.
