I have a 2018 X1 with 6,000 on board.
The other day, I stopped to get the mail, left the engine running and the door open. At that point I got a message "Ignition is on". Once I got back in the vehicle and closed the door, the message went away. Since the engine was still running, I put the vehicle in Drive and, to my surprise, it started rolling backwards and gave me the message "Transmission was not in park". I have put it in "Park" and back in "Drive" several times but it kept rolling backwards. Finally, I restarted the engine and it behaved normally after that.
I took it to the dealership and they said it was a programming glitch and decided to reinstall the software. Today, stopping to get the mail, the exact same thing happened again.
Anybody experienced this? What is going on?
