For someone going from AGM to lead acid, it would be. My point was to be aware of the type of battery getting installed. Coding and registration are two different issues. I never said coding was required for all new batteries because it's not. Registration is part of the proper installation for any new BMW battery to ensure maximum life and avoiding error codes related to an unregistered battery.
