Yeah, that makes sense. I was half tempted to deflate it, possibly ratchet strap it if needed to make it fit and have a small compressor with me.
Especially with an i3 since that tire will be stiffer sidewalls (they're runflats too) maybe the modern spare or similar size is the best option.

I like the idea of the spacer vs. having to swap a rear to the front of the front is flat
