I had a single NAM car phone in the 1980's with two numbers on different carriers. Whenever I crossed the carrier line, I had to punch in *923885# to enter the phone's carrier programming menu and enter the other carrier's system codes into the phone. Today's silly kids don't know how well they have it, never having to tell someone to call the roamer access number for where they are traveling if they needed to reach you.

I was living on top of a mountain at one point back then, and could make roaming calls from NYC, Philly, and Scranton (in addition to my home system) by driving around to different sides of the ridge. Fun times back in the olden days.....
