It depends on what country and how your car was configured. In the US, the updates come over the air and the head unit prompts you to install. For my 2020, I haven't seen one since early this year. I think it's also possible to download an update to a USB stick, like the audio system.
Have you called the "genius"? They can look your car up and tell you best.
