X1 is an entry level BMW. Compared to it's "luxury" entry level competition. (GLA, QX30, Q3, UX) it has a better fit/finish and better packaged. The only exception for quality is the XC40. To me quality is on par with my last gen F10 5 series and much better than my e90 3 series. F10 has more features, F48 has been WAY more reliable. (knock on wood) I also prefer the Dakota leather on the F48 over the Nevada in the F10. Nappa in my previous X86 Z4 was way better than both.

To me the budget parts of the F48 are the hard plastics lower down, non-acoustic windscreen, and lack of some features such as blind spot monitoring, 360 camera, curb cameras, higher-end iDrive system, gesture control, full digital gauge cluster, etc.

If you don't like the control knobs then AliExpress has some aluminum covers for them in silver/red/blue, but unfortunately they look quite chintzy. But there may be another brand out there that looks more premium.
