Autocar, the oldest motoring mag in the world, is not published in, or written for, the US. BMW does not include 4-year maintenance here. The cars that Autocar regards as better buys than the X1 are the Qashqai and the Kuga. The CX-5 is fifth in their ranking, the Yeti fourth. The comparable CX-5 model costs £3,400 less here, but they still rate it two places worse than the X1.
