He wants people to keep their vehicles for longer durations to have less environmental clutter, longterm. He feels if you add the right amount of hardware and make switches/buttons universal it'll stay simple and people will get used to it overtime, but just update software to keep up with technology times.

Marketing bs I'm afraid... spoken in a world with no real ev competitors but the landscape is changing. These teslas are are built with cost savings in mind and to maximise profits.
