mdemange,
The thing you're missing is that by using the cradle, you bypass the phone's built-in antenna and you plug directly into the fin antenna on the roof. I've experimented while sitting in traffic and find that the roof antenna often gets five blips signal strength when I can only get 3 or 4 with the phone off the cradle. Plus I'm not being bombarded by microwave radiation inside my car from my own phone. Built-in charging, better reception, and less radiation exposure--I love mine.
I understand what your saying. For me it's not worth giving up the space for the benefits that you describe. I have not really had a reception problem so 3 vs 5 bars doesn't really matter to me (I may eat my own words on this someday ). On the bombard with radio waves issue, again I'm not concerned as the emissions drops as a function of range squared (sorry I'm an RF engineer) so again I'm less concerned. In any event it sounds like we both have great solutions that meet our needs.
