On my 2021 X2 M35i, I replaced the North American OEM light switch with the European OEM one, so that I would have an actual rear-fog light switch with the correct icon on it. I also got the change "Nicht-Verbaut" to "Verbaut" part of the coding to work so that when you pushed the switch the rear-fog light indicator showed in the instrument panel. I tried all of the various coding options but the lights still didn't come on. Took the car into a garage that specializes in BMW ECU engine tunings and they told me that although the bulbs for the rear-fog lights had been installed at the factory in Germany, there was no wiring to the bulbs, at least not in North America for the 2021 X2 model year. They said this was "typical BMW". I don't understand though why they would bother installing the bulbs but not finish the wiring to them?
