The Stelvio is in the same class as the X3, so that is not relevant here. Just like the standard Stelvio was not used as justification that BMW needn’t offer the X1 or X2, the performance model does not preclude a need for a X1 or X2 M.
I can assure you that product strategists inside BMW are not saying, “Meh, people who want a small fast SUV can just buy a Stelvio, so no need to worry”.
