I've got to agree with pkim - there's no tire that's good at a drag-strip/track that's also good in the cold. The absolute best solution is to get summer tires for when it doesn't suck, and winter tires for when it does. Even if you have to use the same set of rims and get them mounted and un-mounted each season.

If you have to compromise and get an all-season, I would probably get the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric.

Also, you said "go with a staggered look" - I assume that means the rims you have aren't staggered (i.e. are 8" front and back in stead of the 8" front 8.5" back of the stock staggered 18's). If so, don't put different size tires on the front and rear - it doesn't do anything productive. If you want more meat on the back, do what a lot of us have done, replace the 225/45/18's with 245/40/18's on all four corners. They fit on the 8" rims, you'll keep the handling balance more neutral, get more tread out back, more grip up front, and you'll still be able to rotate the tires.
