2021 X2 M35i - New Owner Observations...

Well, it finally got here after ordering in late December. I followed the entire journey via MyBMW and merchant marine tracking - and that was pretty fun.

I've not driven that much yet (got it on Weds, 3/31), but I wanted to throw out some new owner observations for other perspective buyers...

Cool things I’ve noticed so far:
  • Temp gauge can be configured in center digital display even though there is no temp gauge in cluster
  • The interior displays have less screen real estate and actually make the car feel sportier
  • The Cerium Gray looks good I think (sorry haters)
  • Storm Bay is really nice. Bluish inside/in shade. Grayish in sun.
  • Even though we have a 2019 X3 with iDrive6, the 2021 X2’s iDrive6 has some nice enhancements.
  • Resolution of backup camera is much better than our 2019 X3
  • Car is super quick - and in sport mode, its SUPER quick. Very fun.
  • I remember the turbo lag being noticeable when I test drove - but this seems to be much less
  • I took it to get ceramic coated right after I picked it up, and the shop said it was one of the coolest and most unique cars they’ve seen.
  • I parked behind a Macan the other day, and the X2 got more looks. (Just saying)

Other things I’ve noticed so far (not bad necessarily - just noticing):
  • I went 19” rims because I wanted DDC and I wanted all seasons. They don’t fill the wheel wells enough, I think.
  • Snap in charger fits iPhone12. I was worried about that.
  • I can’t really tell the difference between the HK stereo in this car and the normal stereo in my wife’s X3. My ears aren’t good enough for this.
  • The difference in suspension between sport and normal is pretty slight with DDC. It’s stiff but not too bad in normal. Maybe stiffens a little more with Sport. At least I’m not a good enough driver to notice (yet).
  • The fog lights aren’t really fog lights, but they’re cornering lights which illuminate when turning (instead of mechanically moving the headlights like in higher end models). The cornering illumination is fine - but I wonder how well they’ll work in fog.

Pics coming soon. I need a sunnier day.
