I have the same thing whatever you posted in the picture (2017 X1 with NBT and 8.8" screen) and upgraded to carplay sometime back. TOTALLY WORTH IT. G-Maps beats BMW-maps hands down.

Can't go wrong with CarPlay. Google Maps/Waze are the best solution.
