Here are the results of the H&R lowering springs on the M35i. There is a noticeable difference in wheel gap, particularly in the rear and it seems like it's just the right amount because there is absolutely no discernible difference in ride quality which was going to be a deal breaker if it turned out to ride horribly as this is my daily driver. Thankfully the ride quality has not changed.

A mild drop, but one that was quite worth it. I did it mainly for looks, but it now drives just a tad more like a car, so more hot-hatchy if you will.
