Otherwise I'm sure they would be happy to do it before its due but of course I would assume you would have to pay for it.

That's rubbish.
I would challenge them or go elsewhere. You are entitled to have your car serviced under the plan when the service indicator turns yellow. This usually gives you a leeway of at least 1000km.
I have a maintenance plan (Australia) and had it done over 1k km early.
