Don't laugh but I'm actually cross shopping the X1 against the Ford Escape here in the USA. It's called the Kuga in Europe. I would get the 2.0 turbo engine which actually quite fun to drive. I can't find a similar fun-to-drive compact SUV from Mazda, Honda, or Toyota. Plus I think the Escape Looks very nice in white. It's just funny I'm comparing a $27K with a $37K vehicle. I'm waiting to test drive an X1.
Just an FYI, I really like the looks of the Fiat 500x. However I don't think I could live with such a slow engine. At best, it does 0-60 in 8.5+ seconds.
