There could be a difference between the X2 and X1, but in the other thread, some people have the same size 135/90/17 and it fit in the X1 space.
When I check in mine, there is a kind of hidden space toward the bumper. The height of that little extra space is not that much, but I believe a 135 wheel should fit. I measured the length of the space, it was about 27". Our wheel diameter is 27" too.
By curiosity, do you have stock tires? 255/50/18 seems to be bigger than OE size.
