I have never encountered this problem (September 2008 build e92 335xi)
My only complaints with the 6MT are long throws (sort of fixable with SSK), a little rubbery feeling, and presence of CDV (fixable).
The suspension setup on the xdrive models is more of a problem than the 6MT (also fixable for $2K).
