Why don't you ask your dealer if they will perform the retrofit on your car. as is. Warranty will pay for the software update, and then you will be asked to pay .5 - 1 hour labor for the retrofit update.

If you need to replace the FRM, the computer will tell them, and they will not be able to perform the retrofit. As such, you will not be responsible to pay the .5 -1 hour labor. (verify that you will not have to pay, before signing the repair order!)

Tell your dealer that if you DO need a new FRM, you will get one and come back to them for the retrofit. Once your software has been updated from the first trip, if you return in a timely manner, you will not need to update software a second time.
