Around 3 years ago, I had cause to change from RFT tyres onto normal tyres on my UK F25 X3 xDrive 30d MSport. My RFT's always gave me a hard and noisy ride. I made sure that I purchased the equivalent Standard Tyre as recommended by BMW UK. Important because the car had a staggered setup.
The difference in ride quality (for the better) was quite pronounced. They seemed to be wearing at the same rate as RFT's.
Naturally, you will have to carry a can of tyre sealant and/or carry a spare wheel.
I have specified for my new 2020 X1 drive 20i M Sport normal tyres and a space saver in the boot (trunk).
I do not think you will have a problem with tyre wear, because as far as I can remember the rubber compound is identical on both RFTs and normal tyres if using the equivalent tyre from the same manufacturer.
