First, I think you'll find any quality non-RFT tyre gives better ride and lower interior noise than the RFT equivalent. So, you have many choices that you know you'll immediately notice are better.

We changed ours about 18mths ago — I wanted the Michelin, but they weren't available, so we ended up with Pirelli P7 (the OEM tyre was the P7 RFT). So far, they have worn much better than the RFTs for some reason (well, because my wife is driving it mostly now — I've bought something else).

Also, regular rotation is very important for tyre wear longevity on this model — rotate every 5-7,000 miles (10,000km)
