Problem here is insurance, a SOLID $1200 even on a $3k Civic, usually more. Add tires, maintenance etc and it adds up quickly. |

my insurance is a whooping $16 a month for the civic. All the other expenses you mention are waaaay higher on the M2.
I'm not sure I follow you logic.
