Interestingly, there are only 130 M550i out there, but over 350 M5. I think one reason is that BMW has been building more M5 cars than M550i cars recently.
The M5 aren't selling as well as I expected. The lease terms are bad on the 2019, but not on the 2018, so that doesn't explain why the 2018 aren't selling. I think part of the reason is that dealers have been reluctant to discount them so far. Also, I think the market for very expensive non-electric sedans has been shrinking. Some people migrated to SUVs, and many migrated to Tesla Model S, particularly in CA which used to be a big market for high-end German sedans.
