I don't think an aftermarket unit would make a performance difference. The purpose of a strut brace is to resist stretching and compression while connected to the strut towers, it wouldn't matter how firm it is when pressed down on the middle for example as it wouldn't have any functional impact. But if you like one over the other for looks are are willing to shell out the bucks to do so, I have no objection to that
