If you think about it, car manufacturers sponsored racing to promote their engines/cars in the showroom.
Now that Toyoya will be all hybrid within the next decade, it makes sense to pull out of racing.
What will sell cars of the future is no longer speed, but efficiency. This requires a different promotion angle.
Race tracks will be seen as environmental waste lands.
If you think about it, we have been reacing internal combustion engines for over 100 years. Seems quite archaic in this day and age.
