I am looking to buy an x1 and just talked with a dealer salesperson who informed me of the stop sale. What he told me was that he expected the stop sale to last at least a few months (he estimated until October!) meanwhile BMW will take care of existing customers first -- once they have a fix.
He also predicted a flood of x1's on the market once the stop sale is lifted, so that could be a good time to buy if you're willing to wait.
