Some genaral INFO:
-BMW only put on tyres that are tested by them and approved.
-within that envelop there are, of course, some differencies: e.g. Michelins are most durable, etc.
-the US - people afraid of being stuck in "bad" areas - forced manufacturers to develop RFT:s. Most manufacturers have RFT:s only in the US. Unfortunately some manufacturers, incl. BMW, jumped on the bandwagon and introduced RFT:s also in Europe. What pissed me off, when I bought my X4 with 20" tyres, was that I could not choose non-RFT:s, while the Germans could.

RFT:s have been extensively discussed on X3/X4 forum, and people tend to switch to non-RFT:s and include 12V compressor and slime.

All season tires are a US phenomena, which I will not comment.
