I think they are targeting the G-Wagon market in terms of having a status symbol, but that's gonna be a very tough market to crack in my opinion especially considering the G-Wagon's success here in the states.
As for the Bentayga and the RR, I think anyone shopping for the RR or Bentayga is more concerned with brand perception and status to which those two will be much higher than BMW, I just don't think people will see it the same way as how they see a Bentley and RR, but if they can't stretch the budget, maybe then they'll go with an X8.
