Totally with you on this. I'm going to be really annoyed if the upcoming X3 and X5 still have the old style headlights (joining the grill). They've done an absolutely fantastic job camouflaging their test mules so far.
The new 5 and 7 Series look alright. But unlike their aggressive side and rear, their front design looks sort of dumbed down in my opinion. X1 (and facelift 1 Series) look mean and angry. It's the eyebrows and the gap between the headlights and grill.
