So, Schöne Grüße from Bimmercode said he can't do the coding I described (I'm going to add an optimistic "yet" to his response). Also, I happened to get a call from BMW yesterday doing the satisfaction follow-up thing and I made a point of saying I loved the car but the throttle response issue needs to be addressed. I brought up this specific forum and thread as well as the videos folks have been posting as evidence there's an issue out there that needs attention. If my theory is correct, then a reflash could simply tell other driving modes to aggressively downshift, not just the top one, which would be an easy fix. You could keep the slow engagement for eco mode only. I could see engineers thinking that aggressive downshifting might be offputing to many drivers so they choose to ease-in instead. But clearly, many of us would prefer sure-action throttle response and be very willing to give up a smoother stopping/slowing experience...
