Sure, but the fact remains especially in the US that the guns are out there and the 2A isn't going anywhere.
Blaming firearms is similar albeit different to blaming cars for drunk drivers rather than the drunk who get's behind the wheel.
It's a big complicated problem. For us north of the border the problem is guns smuggled from the US into Canada which ultimately end up in the hands of people who shouldn't have them. The border is huge, and porous so the guns are going to keep coming. So what does our government do, they make it even more difficult for law abiding legal gun owners to purchase/acquire and use firearms, when about 90% are smuggled.
Governments on both sides of the border have no apatite to address the actual problems.
