An interesting idea. You can promote it by putting something they like underneath that car, perhaps.
Not a car, seriously, but can they really be distracted, not only deterred? Say, regarding a warm engine in a garage: a warm garage should make it unnecessary to go under the hood. And a couch. And a TV, of course.
