Neither are genuinely rebadged of course, but yes BMW borrows its FWD platform from its less luxurious brand just as VAG does.
It's not new - it started with the 2AT and that came to market years ago. But its more visible now since they are adding quite a few more BMW products on this platform now. |
Which is all well and good as long as it's not the only thing they offer. B "Mini" Ws will fund development on things we all get excited about.
Not to kick off a whole ///M debate again - I for example thing there should be 230i, 240is, M2 as an example - but having a gussied up Mini badged as an X2 ///M35 doesn't seem right to me. But such is the way of the world and it's definitely not something to get worked up over. Anything one can fix with dental floss and goo gone does not get my blood pressure up.
