My wife's X1 has been suffering from the mystery coolant leak recently... it was really bad at one point that I took it over to a friends garage and up on the lift. We can't see anywhere obvious that it could be coming from. After squeezing some coolant hoses and doing an oil change the leak has gone back to barely anything.. still there but minor.

Everything I've read narrows it down to one of three possible failure points. A plastic coolant connector that mounts on the engine block. The oil filter housing. Or the water pump.

So now I guess I'm gonna chase this PITA starting with the plastic coolant connector. If that doesn't stop it, it'll be on to the oil filter housing. If that doesn't work, I'll trade this turd in for something newer that doesn't have these stupid, Mini transverse mounted pieces of crap.

Unfortunate that this is plaquing this car as my wife loves it... just the perfect size, good gas mileage and handles like a BMW.
