I had the same problem, just 6 months after i bought the car (new). As it was still under guaranty, I didn't have to pay anything for the replacement of the EGR.
The valve was maybe faulty, but I also think that driving on "D" which makes the engine turn all the time at low RPM (roughly 2000 per minut) is not the best for the EGR, from them I always drive on S/M which gives a higher RPM, and 3 years later I didn't have any engines problems.
