this has always been my justification for keeping the AMEX platinum. while ive never needed to exercise the full extent of its powers, i do have close friends who travel frequently who swear the card has saved their a$$e$ multiple times over the years.

not to mention: it's pretty cool to be carrying around a card that empowers you to walk into a BMW dealership, slap down the card, and just walk out with a brand new M5 competition.
All of this.

I have friends who have been airlifted out of places by AMEX security when crap got bad. The ultimate in civilian safety IMHO is to work for Pfizer, who has its own VERY SERIOUS global security force and carry an AMEX Platinum or Black Card. You're all but bulletproof in almost any circumstance.

On the car thing, we did that with the 535 GT we purchased to transport my brother around after his stroke. It's funny when they try to negotiate sharing the fee. Nope. You just moved a unit at the end of the month and reduced your floor plan costs accordingly. It's a win-win!
