iPhone8 Disconnects
Lately my IPhone 8 has been disconnecting while on a call then. It disconnects for about 10 seconds then reconnects. I would say it happened 2X per hour during my commute.
Dealer told me to go to the bluetooth settings and click "forget this device" then reconnected the the iPhone, but its still keeps disconnecting. Its getting kinda annoying at this point. Any tips? Thanks Zoom Zoom |

I had this happen all the time until I updated my iPhone to the latest software version. That fixed it for me.
"Forget this device" is like their IT version of saying, restart your computer.

Phone software has been up to date for a while, Was hoping the latest update from apple would fix it, but it didn't.
"Forget Device" and reconnected. Still happening. I think it my be the blue tooth on the car, because my screen also freezes when it happens. Is there a way to update the Apple Play software on the car? |

I have had the same issue with my 6S. But it isn’t consistent and forgetting / re-learning doesn’t necessarily solve it when it happens. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes it happens during a call and others it just happens and I don’t even know until I hear the phone ring in the center console. It seems to settle down after a while, then I update iOS and start the cycle all over again. It is annoying but every time I mention a Bluetooth connection issue to a dealer (or any brand) they never seem to be able to recreate or diagnose the issue and always blame the phone. Maybe it is the phone, but I don’t recall this particular problem happening in my 2015 coupe with the same phone. In the 2015, it stayed connected but I had to say hello twice when answering a call before I could hear the caller.

Go to
https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html Put in your VIN, it will provide you with the latest iDrive software for your car. These updates are mainly for phone- and app-related compatibility, so perhaps this may help. You'll upgrade by placing the file on a USB stick and inserting that into your car's USB port. |
