P0741 error code
Hi,
I have a 2015 X1 18d with 84000km. I bought it 2 months back and driven ~3000 km so far. Always serviced at BMW dealership on time. Today I took it out and while at doing around 40kmph, the CEL has come up with a message that transmission service needed. The display message said you may continue to drive, but performance may be degraded. I drove next 2 km on 60-80kmph and pulled over to a parking lot. Car behaved pretty normal during that 2km. Restarted the car and CEL stayed on. Read the code using Torque app and saw that the code is P0741 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off. I got a bit tensed and cleared the code to see if it comes back. The CEL is gone and I drove around 8km after that ( varying speeds) and the CEL hasnt come back yet. Should I be worried? The car may be in a used car warranty for 3 months, but since I cleared the code, I cant show them. The car was checked before buying for any error codes and none were present. if there is indeed an error with transmission, how can likely is to get that error code in next few days of usage? What kind of driving ( sprited , low speed etc) could be causing this error to come again? The last 3000km, i didnt find any slipping or any abnormal pattern with the gearbox. Occassionally I had a bit of jerk ( once in 2-3 weeks) when shifting and I thought that may be normal for a gearbox which has done 80000 km. |

it could be a fluke but if the car is under warranty and if you have any concern, just have them check it for piece of mind.
They have a better scanner than you, so theirs will probably show more info if there is any problem. You can also look into getting ISTA and you can run a scan yourself to see if the error is still there. good luck. |

If there is a real problem, how likely is to get the error in the next 1 month before the warranty expires? |
