I just asked BMW genius about my build status..They told me build date 12th sept delivery week 40...Code 5055 Confirmed by Production Control..
However i have just talked to our BMW sales man and he said it is in production already?..Delivery should be week 38!...Why is BMW genius giving me wrong info? |

depends on who did the query last. You shouldn't take these dates as set in stone, a lot can happen. Last year when I ordered a new VW I happen to know the guy who ordered a car that was built just before mine - but his was the last to be loaded on a train and mine had to be shipped on road. We got the our cars literally built one after the other, but he got his 10 days earlier.
Also my BMW dealer told me, that sometimes the cars are in their lot (about 800km away from the factory) in 3 days, and sometimes it takes 2 weeks. |

I've had the same experience. I had a call from my dealer last Tuesday telling me that the car has entered production (one week early as it was originally scheduled for this week). As of Friday, BMW Genius reps were still reporting status 5055 with production scheduled for this week. I still don't know who's correct, but I'm hoping it's the dealer, and I suppose I'll find out if my car turns up one week early (originally scheduled for w/c 3rd October).

Mines 5200, paintshop as of 09:36 today . Delivery looks like WK40 which works for me as I am away the week before @ the Nurburgring .
Looks like we will all be getting them the same week! |

Mine moved to 5100 [Bodyshop start] this morning. It looks to me like the BMW Genius status codes were more accurate than the reports from the BMW dealers.
sasman1964 and @simon you both seem to be a few days ahead of me, have you been able to retrieve your user guide in the BMW app or from the MyBMW website yet? |

I already have my VIN, and it's recognised by the MyBMW website and also the VIN checker at bimmer.work. From what I've read earlier in this forum the user guide usually becomes accessible a few days after production starts.
@Simon: There's also an Android app available from the Play store called "BMW Driver's Guide". |

While you're in the App Store you might as well download the "BMW Connected" app as well (last updated on 2nd Sep 2016). I find its usefulness is limited as I don't have the Remote Services option, but there are some things you can do with Nav destinations...
