BMW E-sys coding for the f48 x1
Howdy all. I started coding the new X1. There isn't much information out there in regards to coding the f48 I guess since it is so new. What I did find is that the coding is based off the F56 (Mini). I'm posting this here because there is apparently not a separate section for coding yet. Here are a few things I coded.
1.Auto Mirror fold on lock using fob or comfort access- love this! 2.Auto mirror unfold on unlock with fob or comfort access- again, love this! 3.Ring tone for calls in car is from my phone instead of different car tone 4.Got rid of idrive disclaimer page on start up. 5.Got text messages to show full message rather than 3 lines. 6. Fog lights can now be turned on while park lights on. Some of the things I am trying to get working: Driving lights stay on with high beams. Coded this but didn't work. Cornering lights fiction with high beams. On more thing, I could find no module for active sound. |

Did you see a code for the Auto Stop/Start remaining 'as was' when the engine is switched off?
I have to keep remembering to do it manually every time I switch on. |

Nice
I thought 1&2 are allready standard? I have 6 as well. But a friend of mine did it because i don't dare to do it myself. I think he based the changing on a 1-serie. He coded the following stuff: 1. Auto start/stop off (when you start, i can put it on when i want) 2. M-performance logo instead of standard (when getting in the car, also in HUD) 3. Radio off, when opening door (instead of keep playing) 4. taillights on with DRL 5. We tried to get the fog-lights on when opening, but it doesn't work yet. Next time we will look at: - Change Angel Eye Brightness when headlamps on to 50% - Turns on Fog Lamp with Welcome Lights - Door handle LEDs light up when engaged in Reverse - Allows Fog Lights to remain on when high beams are active. - Adds the vehicle’s current speed to the BC cycle list (Displays on KOMBI screen) - Max speed the mirrors will fold. (is to low) - Number of turn signal flashes when locking. - Adds iDrive setting to turn on/off the audible confirmation when Alarm is armed. Also wondering if ASD is possible. I am very curious if you manage to change one of the above |

I forgot to mention, I changed my signal flashes to 5 instead of 3 and now digital speed to show in gauge center. I thought that there is already a setting to turn in off and on confirmation chirp for alarm and I thought the handles already lit when in reverse or maybe I coded that cause mine work.

Can u let me know if equalizer can be enabled by coding in Tone Settings? I really miss the Logic 7 Equalizer in this F48 system. |

I had never heard of coding until I joined this group. I think it's great that you can customize so many aspects of the system in your car.
I am wondering how difficult this is to do and what type of equipment it requires. Sounds like some of you guys are doing this yourselves. What do you need in terms of software and would a novice be able to code any of these things himself. I like the idea of folding the mirrors when locking the car and changing the blinking signal from 3 to 5 blinks as someone had mentioned in this thread. Also does this have any effect on the warranty of the vehicle? I'm very interested in this type of manipulation of the system. Thanks |

Same here, coding sounds fascinating to me but also risky, so would appreciate any help from experienced coders to guide us newbies through our first coding session!
I have purchased the ENET cable (from eBay) which came with a CD (not sure if I should use whatever is on that disc). Also downloaded the E-Sys software recommended on this forum. Running that software looks a bit intimidating. |

I am new to coding myself but people have been coding their cars for a very long time now. The good thing is that you can go back in and change settings of it causes a problem. I was nervous at first about coding so I had a guy stand over my shoulder the first time to make sure I followed the right step. My experience thus far is that it is very repetitious once you do it a few times. There are tons of E-sys install instruction out there. The things you need are:
Cable E-sys software E-sys launcher Data files |

The main things I'd want to do are: 1) Mirrors auto fold/unfold (The long key press ends up starting to shut the blind on the sunroof. 2) Display road speed in the instrument cluster (With seat and wheel set for comfort i can't easily see both the speedo and the information display). |

It' s a set of files for all the models. You just want to make sure you have the most up t date ones you can get. When you launch the E-sys software, you tell the system which set of files to use depending on the car you are coding. There isn't a F048 file set listed yet but you can use the f56 files to code. I am using version 57.2 PSdZData lite.

bmtspar: Cautiously working my way in to coding, but not sure which parameters to code to achieve the above, as what I'm reading from my ecu doesn't seem to tie up with the F56 crib sheet. I'd be very grateful if could let me know what you did. |

Use the f30 code sheet and see if it makes more sense to you. In the f48 the NBT module is called HU Navi or something like that.

Good thread. My dad is taking delivery of his X1 soon and was specifically wondering how to code it like my F30. Thanks for all the info.
