I'd consider it. I want lots of headroom (I'm tall, and X1 has most of any BMW), room for small kids, and a potent drive.
The x1 has very little headroom as its just a wagon. Go sit in the x3 for max headroom. lol regarding the x1m

You've clearly not been in both. I'm only 6'2" but have tons of head room in our X1, but felt tight in the X3. BMW lists it as a 0.6" advantage for the X1.

Don't you have an E36/8? That must really be the definition of tight. I got a 6'8" friend in mine for a few minutes, but it wasn't exactly roomy.

+1 it's a great car. I actually like the cup holder - it's a good spot for my phone

I hate the X6, I dislike the X5, I find the X4 stupid, and I think the X3 is boring. Yet I love the X1. Its just cool. Its more like a wagon than a SAV.

Anyone who has driven BMW's X1, X3 or even other vehicles in the compact SUV category as the Audi Q3 or the Mazda CX5 will agree that the X1 is the most fun to drive - period.

I have not driven the Mini Countryman. A quick search reveals that it gets some mixed reviews (but generally quite good!) in regard to handling, but it's a vehicle with much less ground clearance than the X1 (6.3" in the Countryman VS. 7.6" in the X1.)

I wonder how the move to a FWD-biased AWD will affect positively/negatively the driving dynamics of the redesigned X1. What will new buyers lose/gain? How will BMW tweak the new X1 to set it apart from everyone else as far as handling? I think AWD, more space inside, comfort and other bells and whistles are nice and dandy, but I could have chosen the X3 or the Audi Q3 if I wanted those things.

So, in two years, what could make you rush to trade-in your current fun-to-drive X1 to get the all-new 2016 X1? Will more horsepower, less turbo lag, more fuel-efficiency, a little more space, more "i" features while giving up on that well-balanced RWD-biased handling do the trick for you? Or, given the changes favoring a FWD platform, will you simply hold on to your current X1 (or worse, take your business somewhere else)?

I really like the current X1. Looks great and has proper proportions. This camo'd one seems to have a more rakish look to the rear end. Could be a nice little competitor to the LR Evoque.

The LCI X1 looks good.
I hope that the next model will keep the driving dynamics at a high level too

The normal version drives like a boat, don't know about the cooper S.

But the big question is, why is it on a roadside assistance truck?

I agree that the front wheel is pretty close to the leading edge of the front door. However, I find the front overhang to be impressively short. (surprisingly, especially for FWD)

The new X1.
This vehicle has a lot to live up to as the current X1 has now passed 300,000 units since introduction on the market in November 2009.

You can actually see some simularities.

You kidding right?
I love my screen, I hate the new Garmin style. That one is actually afterthought. And I have no problems with the cupholder. In my car nobody drinks anyway and second in Europe, people don't cry for that; I would like to see you driving in Europe with that coffee and when you will drink it. I am also very content with the interior. never had a problem with the armrest, so what are you talking about?
For the money, I think X1 is one of the best bang for the buck cars out there.

This is mine; perhaps not the most modern of designs, but at least typically BMW-ish, with evident RWD roots (even though it's xDrive25d):

The first picture of the BMW X1 Li . The extended wheelbase version of the forthcoming X1 produced in China for China. Given the continuous rise of SUV sales in China. This is a very important car for BMW.

Hey Scott......i had been hoping the X1 would of had a 6 M/T optional trans....i would of bought one...Right now i am on the M2 holding pattern and was wondering if there is a chance in hell that BMW might offer a manual transmission in the coming X1M ? If the X1M is still being considered...is it?
