Retro fit auto box?
I've noticed with the F48 model the auto box has moved away from the what I would class as sportier auto box. I'm not a mechanic or technically minded with cars whatsoever, my F48 20D M sport sport auto is on order at the minute. I was just wondering if anyone had considered a retrofit or if it was even possible?

I doubt it's possible -- different g/b, different shifter mechanism

[QUOTE=Ant802;19961112]I've noticed with the F48 model the auto box has moved away from the what I would class as sportier auto box. The box is specific to the X1 and Mini. I am not sure what you are referring with 'a sportier auto box' I am not sure which option you have ordered, but it is available as a Sport Auto with Sport mode, 'S', Shift lever with up/down and the paddles on the steering wheel. Yes, there is a difference when comparing my F48 X1 with Sport Auto and the F20 125i MSport in how they perform. The main difference is that the X1 is not considered a Sports car but a SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle). It has a higher COG and more weight. Whilst it is not as nimble as the F20, I find that the X1 handles pretty well, and can be 'fun' to drive when 'Sport' mode is selected, and the shift lever push over to S. |
