I think it looks good! I hope BMW would offer couple more interesting colors than what they offer for X1.

You think? I don't know...the lights on the Q3 are angled really well and SO bright in comparison to typical fog lights. I find myself driving her car with those engaged at night - it gives you great coverage of the road.

Might be LED. BMW is finally putting those in place of standard bulbs for the same reasons.

Considering the low works as the high beam as well i see no reason why bmw cannot do the same and save money in the process.

I am 99% sure they're LED - which makes a big difference obviously - but it's also a good design, because you can use the lower aspects of the front fascia for things like airflow, and don't have to be dedicated to lights.

That's what I was wondering too - my gf's Q3 has this feature in her LED headlights - it's very nice and the front face is cleaner IMO.
Just not the same coverage with the lights that high up.
Best to look at the X1 for light systems. On the X1, the fog light...is just...a fog light. The LED headlight array works by illuminating different sectors

We were talking about the lower lights.

BMW X2 Patent Images Showcase Production-Ready Model

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/07/bmw...-showcase.html

Quote:
While we knew the upcoming BMW X2 wouldn't retain all those flashy elements found on the concept version, we're still happy to see how these patent images resemble prototypes that were already spotted multiple times.

It's always nice to have some type of confirmation, even though these images sourced from the Japanese Patent Office aren't exactly as conclusive as BMW coming out with a press release and a full gallery.

Still, from what we can see, the car is basically be a toned-down version of the X2 Concept, which made its official debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show last year.

BMW's senior VP, Adrian van Hooydonk described it as being aimed at "active people looking for a combination of enjoyment and practicality," although what some people saw was another attempt at creating a flashy crossover. Which is good, if you're a fan of the whole Coupe SUV genre.

At the front, the patent images reveal how the headlights could likely remain angular, but not quite as sharp in terms of design as the ones on the concept. Look close and you'll spot the differences - overall, they also seem bigger in the patent shots.

Other differences include the smaller front grille, less aggressive front bumper, production-ready door mirrors, a single (and also smaller) exhaust tip, slightly altered taillights plus a regular rear bumper. What's really interesting though is that all patent images include that little empty circle on the C-pillar, where the concept has a BMW badge. So then, could C-pillar badges become a new trend for BMW? Time will tell.

We'll also point out that this rendering from last year, meant to depict a production version of the X2 Concept, doesn't look all that realistic anymore - not with that gigantic grille and ultra-sloped rear end. The real thing appears to be more of a sportier X1.

The good news is, we're only a little over two months away from the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show, where BMW will be unveiling their X2 crossover.

Looks pretty close to the renderings.

BMW X2 Tries On A Production-Spec Suit, Looks Sleek

BMW is getting ready to roll out a sportier crossover, which will wear the X2 moniker.

Previewed by a concept a couple of weeks ago, during the 2016 Paris Auto Show, the study has been toned down by RemcoM in a new rendering that shows how it could look like once the Germans commence production.

On the outside, the upcoming X2 will be inspired by the latest interpretation of the X1, and it will set itself apart with a sloping roofline and minor tweaks on both ends. The cabin is expected to mirror the X1, too, and the two vehicles will also share the same platform, so front-wheel drive will be standard and all-wheel drive will make its way on more upmarket versions.

The first units of the new BMW X2 are said to roll off the assembly line in either 2017 or 2018, making it the third SAC (Sports Activity Coupe) in BMW's lineup after the X6 and X4.

Updated July 12, 2017:

We have added more looks at the X2, showing two different front bumper designs - one resembling the recently revealed patent design, and the other a sportier version, most likely representing two different levels of X2 models. We also finally get the first look at the X2's interior.

"First" look at the X1's interior..which btw is one of the cheapest, most uninspired interiors in recent BMW history. The last gen interior looks miles above this utter crap.

Well, but that's not something that we wasn't expecting already.

What is this going up against? Evoque?

It´s the UKL platform, which the F48 and Mini are based upon. No mather how good intention BMW have with this X2, the UKL with it´s gearshifter, with it´s cheap "sportseats" - it will make your stomach turn. The upside down kidney doesn´t make it much more funky either. I really don´t understand this model, what does it supposed to be, who are it´s target buyers?

I'm not sure I understand what the difference is between this and the X1.

AFAIK the X1 competes with the Q3 while the X2 is more of a GLA competitor.

X1, X3 & X5 are high roofed and more practical SUV's. X2 as with X4 & X6 (even numbers) are intended to be the more sporting variant with lower roofs, higher wastelines (hence narrower windows) so are intended for younger more image conscious drivers maybe! Only really less practical if you load your vehicle up high in the back with gear, although as no-one should obscure their rear view, I don't really see how a higher roofed vehicle is that much more practical!

And I'm gonna go against the grain here and say I think this car looks really great in the new shots right at the top of the page (pics 3-14 specifically) Clearly this is a sport trimmed variant, with a much deeper front air-dam more akin to the concept car (if not quite as deep) The side profile is sporty, high wasted and haunchy with very little front overhang for a FWD car (proving it is possible to build FWD vehicles without huge overhangs!) I think this will look distinctive and cool when revealed. Maybe it wont look very BMW but car design has to move with the times and while I hear comments like "it looks like a cheap Korean design"... some of the latest designs to come out of Korea are actually very cool indeed!!

How will it drive?? Well if Ford & VW can build great driving FWD cars (Mondeo, Focus, Golf, Scirocco, Fiesta) most of which I've owned so can vouch for, then I'm damn sure BMW can too
