What's up with the BMW badge on the C pillar. Isn't that where Buick places theirs? Yuck.

I just find it funny that slapping a BMW badge on what's effectively a MINI makes it okay, but more capable Subie, VW or Ford are a bridge too far.

Roundels should only be placed on the rear and front of the car. It looks weird on the side pillar

I am good.

I was referring to the Mercedes.

None of the cars you mentioned are built with any real quality or fit and finish.

Meh, my Mexican GTI is better built than our South African F30 and wildly better than the GLA45 we recently test drove. Subarus may have some cheap materials, but they do seem to be awfully well built. I'll leave the head gasket eating, rear diff crunching Ford out of this for my convenience.

Mercedes quality has gone to shit if you ask me, at least in the C class wagon I just rented in Germany. The dashboard was a complete joke and the seats were terrible. Plus it was a dog on the autobahn.

Overall I like what I see here in the X2. Comparing it to a Macan isn't really fair as the price differential is likely to be fairly substantial. Not a fan of the new front drive platform, as many here seem to agree on, but then again I haven't driven one.

I can't speak for anyone else but this is what I was referring to when I said "X2 M". X2 M = X2 M35i.

Roundel has been on C-pillar in the past. See BMW E9 CSL. But, I don't like it on the X2.

X2 is closer to Evoque size I think... but in no way will it get close to the dynamic brilliance of the Macan, even though the Macan is bigger! But then neither will the price be anywhere near either!! However a decent spec X2 will be very near a base spec Macan... I’d still take the Macan 4 pot over X2 any day, for its build quality and dynamics (not to mention the looks)

Personally I’d rather see a Panamera junior than a Macan junior, I’d love Porsche to build a medium sized 4 door car, as opposed to an SUV!!

Ok, well, that's a sure-fire way to be misunderstood and confuse the heck out of your audience. It's like calling the M240i an M2 or the M550i an M5. Soon there will also be both an X3 M40i and X3 M, X4 M40i and X4 M, X5 M50i and X5 M, M340i and M3, M440i and M4.

You even confused yourself because you said of the vehicle you called the X2 M vs. the GLA45 - "I'd forecast the cars will be pretty comparable.". That's only true if you also think, for example, an X3 M40i and GLC63 are "pretty comparable". However, I am pretty sure you know they are not.

BMW has already made it confusing enough. Adding M designations to just about every model they make. Why even have the "M" in front of a basically std model car? Leave the f'n M for the REAL M cars and use the number designations for the others and be done with it. Besides that, they feel the need to market in every conceivable contrived model as well.....like the GC, GT, etc...if they put more energy into less models and stayed focus it would be allot simpler and then maybe we wouldn't be calling the next M2 a competition which should be a CS. And why is the the even numbered 6 series a four door now? The whole thing is outta control.

I was going off previous M cars being i.e. M5, not 550i M. In that case I'd have said M X2 if I'd been thinking a true M car. That said, you're totally right, they reversed the scenario when they did an X5 M. My mistake.

Not realizing how hot the GLA 45 is. Thought I knew that one a little bit, obviously not.

Bleh I'll crawl away now having admitted to getting a few things wrong in a single post.

Very good way to handle some corrections. So many people get that part wrong (how to handle a good correction/criticism).

Plus 1 for you sir.
