BMW F48 Audio system fault

Vehicle built May 2016 and bought new, H-K audio system and no audio issues till now.

Randomly there is a loud “thump” (not static) in the audio, level depends on the volume setting. Suffice to say it gets my attention.
Happens at random times during telephone calls, and when listening to music tracks on USB stick.

The issue has not occurred when listening to AM & FM radio for lengthy periods, nor when not listening to any audio entertainment.

Disconnected USB stick no change i.e.it still happens during telephone calls. I do not listen to music via BT from iphone.

Occurs randomly, not associated with rough road surfaces or when using other systems e.g. turn signal indicators, braking etc. No non- stock electronics are installed in the car.

I do have Carly, but have not as yet sourced a fault report via it. In the past such reports are somewhat cryptic.

Bit of a mystery.
