Jeeez guys: stop whining with every new model, don't like it - don't buy it, it is as simple as this. And if they sell it to every other person arround, it proves they where right.

It's obvious, they are paid for and by the new ideas... they are thinking that no one wants "comfort food", "reheated" plates..

but some of us actually want the simple, tried and true solution:
RWD wagon with a stick.... ?! C'mon, easy money there BMW !

Sad...

We are not so much whining about the new models, the more models, the better for us actually...

But we are whining more about the fact that old models are being discontinued...

Why would it be OK that old concept have to die ?
Why do we, as consumers, have to be dictated on what we need?

We say we want a simple rwd wagon with a stick... we are not asking for the moon here ?!

Now i completely understand my wife when she says:
"Why do you keep on buying me what i dont want, why don't you just buy me what i want ... ?"

But maybe that's another different subject... lol

Excellent news.
I've been waiting on this car for some time noe, i guess 2017 is when the new FW X1 will appear alongside it's sibling and X-driven only X2.
I wonder why people think this is bad news, the X segment are not to crowded, and it's the segment which grows fastest these days.
In my eyes, 2017 is when the X line is complete, i'd love to see some early drawings of it though.

Breaking News! "BMW confirms M active tourer, M X2". Just in case somebody would post it ahead of me. . In my honest opinion they are stretching/diluting their lineup a tad to much.

That and the fact that BMW was still the sales king DESPITE their "limited" range of models for years while MB and Audi began to build niche by niche seemingly endlessly. Ironically, now that BMW is doing this MB is in the lead so far this year (if I recall correctly).

Also, while it may seem like splitting niche hairs, to me the various Audi's and MB's actually appear to be visually distinct (if nothing else). It has gotten to the point where from a distance a 3, 5, and 7 are all so similar in profile that even I question myself at times.

China will be getting an X1L an extended wheelbase of the new X1, which will be built in China along with the standard X1.
Then North America could use an extended wheelbase X5L - that would probably sell very well and be easy to produce. When you end up presenting my idea to the board, feel free to thank me by giving me a pre-production model to try out for a while!

So the 235iGC (something I was actually hoping to see/interested to buy) was shelved for being unnecessary but a FWD-biased 5-door compact-SUV-coupe thing is a goer.

BMW you funny...I eat you last.

Remember when a sports activity involved throwing a ball, running somewhere, or using your physical endurance in a competitive environment. Now it's a car apparently.

I mean really, how many people other than BMW marketers are referring to this as anything other than an SUV?

I have to agree with the too many cars mantra. It's not the models, If they stuck to the 1-7, had a couple X's,M's, i's & Z's it would make sense, but then you get into the cross overs, GT's, grande coupes and it gets confusing.

The 4-series is un-buyable my friend, as it is too large, too big, too heavy to be worthwhile owning. The 4-series is NOT what a single person wants..

I'd own this little AWD hatch, if the design came in respectable. I'd never own a 4-series... because I'd never own a bloated e92 (for the same reason).

M2 is all BMW has left...

You saying that from Switzerland...

If North America could buy the EXACT same cars Europeans get, we'd have NOTHING to bitch about. Nothing.

We can't even get a M135i here, when nearly everyone wants one. I didn't want my 135is, I wanted a 5-door hatch. We want Wagons, we want the respect that Europeans are given.

BMW uses America for their throw-away EOL cars. (All pre-packaged)

If all these absolutely ridiculous brand diluting SUV's would lead to better enthusiast cars (e.g., like Porsche) I would be all over this. But it won't. This is now our favourite brand. Why even bother with M cars anymore. Now that there is an absurd number of SUVs, you'd think they could retain that enthusiast brand image by building a few actual sports cars. But.. I don't think they care any more to do that.

I can not wait for BMW to add a 2.5, 2.75, 3.5, 3.75 4.5, and 4.75 to their mondel lineup, and start charging up the wazoo for them. Has BMW explored those niche markets yet? Slap an M badge on it, call it an M3.75 and I'm sure it'll sell!

Hell, Maybe BMW will dig deep enough into niche markets that it'll offer a 2.99 badge as well!

Is China getting a German car built in South Carolina?
