Wipers not cleaning

After a couple trips on motorways / country roads I noticed that the wipers are not really doing a good job (if any job at all!!!) at cleaning dead insects from the windscreen. No matter if I use the cleaning spray or not, white and red marks stay there.

Has anybody had a similar problem or could it be that wipers weren't fitted properly on my X1? From a quick check I had they seem installed fine.

I think this happens on all vehicles at this time of year.

As DJ Orange says, Bugs on the windscreen a fact of life in the warmer months.
You can add more washer cleaner to your washer reservoir, but I find it better to keep a bottle of bug remover / window cleaner like RainX or Windex in the front drivers door pocket. You can then open the window, reach around and spray the bug/s first then use the cars washer to clean them off. Sometimes it does require a quick stop and a cloth.

In the summer I always have a drinks bottle full of screen wash and a white scourer in the boot, sometimes its necessary to clean the screen before making the trip home.
