Production BMW X2 Officially Teased in Orange Camo

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Admin update: BMW X2 in camo shows up at Milan Fashion Week. See photos and videos below!

BMW X2 at Milan Fashion Week

And it Begins... BMW X2

Built for the urban dweller, the car manages to fuse the fast-moving body language and low-slung proportions of a coupe with the robust construction of an X model. Or as BMW puts it simply: it’s a “sporty vehicle with bold character.”

Why? Even without the X2, the X1 is twice the car the Q3 is.

Always liked the niche role that the GLA filled, sort of a raised hatchback. Now that we have a competitor from BMW that looks good I'm very happy

Didn't I read that the Q3 is built on the Mk5 Golf chassis? So two, almost three generations old?

This looks exactly like an X1, I'm not seeing a major difference compared to an X3vsX4 or X5vsX6

Haha there is a part of me that wishes the car companies would release a "limited edition" with the test camo. I'd never buy one but think it would be neat.

I like the camo. Different and playful. Definitely playing to a certain segment they are aiming for.

Me too! Our second car is a GLA for that reason.

Not sure about which generation, but in any case it is build on the older PQ35 platform rather than today's MQB matrix. So, yes it is old-ish tech, but the new one is slated to debut next year, and hit the market in the first half of 2019, so it won't be very far behind the X2. And they are said to have an SQ3 coming this time which will be positioned against the X2 M35i and the rumored AMG-lite GLA (or GLB) model as well. So it will be a hotly contested segment.

Plus, the thing about the Audi and Mercedes is that they get the true AMG and Audi Sport RS models too (GLA45 and RS Q3 respectively), whereas there is still no indication whatsoever that BMW has any intention of producing an X1 M or X2 M (or any UKL-based M). That doesn't mean the X2 won't be the better vehicle for most of the market - it may very well be. But the lack of a true flagship to go against the others will be unfortunate.

Yeah, but yuck to Haldex based "sports cars". Hopefully M never touches the sideways motored cars, but I'm sure it's inevitable.

Not being facetious - but doesn't the R8 have a Haldex system? I believe the one used in the R8 is unique, but perhaps there could be hope?
